Linda Whiting has been creating and selling her work for more than 35 years for galleries and gift shops in Idaho, Oregon, and California. Throughout those 35 years Whiting’s work has evolved and changed but one constant has been her attention to detail and sharing her love of nature. Whiting’s early art years included painting with oil paints, sewing and crocheting. However, Whiting soon transitioned into painting with acrylics as they lent themselves to a busier lifestyle raising her family and helping her husband on their ranch.
From 2006 until 2012, Whiting, owned and operated her own gallery/gift shop on the family ranch two miles east of Burns, OR. During that time she painted and sold many original works of art as well as other local artists’ work. Customers from all over the United States, Canada, and other countries made purchases at Whiting’s gallery. Whiting closed her gallery in 2013 and her work transitioned into working more with fabric art, bead weaving and bead embroidery.
January of 2015 she joined three friends in opening One Stop Shop, a Western Specialty Store, in Burns, OR. By June the business expanded into the building next door. Also at about the same time, Whiting’s more contemporary work was juried into the newly opened Gallery 15 right across the street from the One Stop Shop. Whiting is up to the challenge of designing and creating distinct styles for these two separate businesses.
